Regular Season Round 13: Beira Mar - Vasco 70-75

Very significant was Vasco's (#8) 75-70 road victory against 7th ranked Beira Mar. Vasco forced 21 Beira Mar turnovers. Beira Mar was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Filipe Ferreira (180-96) nailed 16 points for the winning side and forward Paulo Vieira (192-94) accounted for 14 points. Four Vasco players scored in double figures. American forward Frederick Moore (201-96, college: Shawnee St.) came up with 25 points and 9 rebounds and Tiago Tavares (185-98) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Beira Mar in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vasco (4-9) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Dragon Force. Beira Mar lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Benfica B. Vasco will play against league's second-placed Academica in Coimbra in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beira Mar will play on the road against Sanjoanense (#4) in Sao Joao and hopes to get back on the winning track.
