Regular Season Round 14: Adana Basket - Izmit 84-79

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Adana Basket (5-9) beat at home 8th ranked Izmit (6-8) 84-79 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Izmit was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Romanian forward Gabriela Marginean (182-87, college: Drexel, agency: FlyBasketball) orchestrated the victory by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. American guard Brittany Boyd (175-93, college: California) contributed with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: ProDep Management) replied with 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Melike Bakircioglu (191-87, agency: 1andBox Sports Agency) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Izmit. Four Izmit players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Adana Basket maintains first position with 5-9 record, which they share with Canik Belediye. Izmit lost fourth consecutive game. Izmit at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth place with eight games lost. Adana Basket will face Fenerbahce (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Izmit will play at home against Galatasaray (#6) and hope to win that game.
