Regular Season Round 14: Boa Viagem - Carnide 58-64

Bottom-ranked Boa Viagem is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 15th consecutive match to sixth ranked Carnide (7-8) 64-58 on Saturday evening. Carnide made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Boa Viagem turnovers. Strangely Boa Viagem outrebounded Carnide 45-28 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Ines Cruz (162-94) notched 19 points to lead the effort and the former international point guard Ines Faustino (170-92) supported her with 13 points and 5 assists. Four Carnide players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists by American-Guyanese guard Miriam McKenzie (177-90, college: Loyola, MD) did not help to save the game for Boa Viagem. American center Kayla Grimme (188-95, college: Manhattan) added 9 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Newly promoted Carnide maintains sixth position with 7-8 record. Loser Boa Viagem still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Carnide will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Boa Viagem will play again against Carnide (#6) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
