Regular Season Round 16: EWE Baskets - ALBA 84-93

The most important game in the last round took place in Oldenburg between second ranked EWE Baskets (12-3) and fourth ranked ALBA Berlin (11-3) on Sunday night. EWE Baskets were defeated by ALBA Berlin in a tough game at home 84-93. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of EWE Baskets. ALBA Berlin looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by EWE Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Luke Sikma (202-89, college: Portland) fired 11 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (191-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Five ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. American swingman Rickey Paulding (196-82, college: Missouri) produced 18 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and his fellow American import point guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) added 24 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA Berlin moved-up to third place. EWE Baskets at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. ALBA Berlin are looking forward to face BBC Bayreuth (#7) on the road in the next round. EWE Baskets will play against Brose Baskets (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
