Regular Season Round 18: Vienna - Timberwolves 81-76
Date: January 17, 2019
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Vienna: Hallmann (#6) and Timberwolves (#7). Hallmann (9-9) won against visiting Timberwolves (7-11) 81-76. Timberwolves were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Strangely Timberwolves outrebounded Hallmann 44-28 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Point guard Luka Gvozden (184-93) notched 9 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists to lead the effort and the former international Jason Detrick (195-80, college: Oklahoma) supported him with 21 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 15 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists by Serbian center Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) did not help to save the game for Timberwolves. American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) added 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hallmann maintains sixth position with 9-9 record. Timberwolves lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Wels. Hallmann will play against league's leader Gmunden Swans at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Timberwolves will play against Furstenfeld Panthers (#10) and hope to get back on the winning track.
