Regular Season Round 17: Istanbulgucu - Akdeniz U. 81-104

The biggest surprise of round 17 in TKBL was guest Akdeniz U.'s (10-7) easy road victory over 7th ranked Istanbulgucu (9-8) 104-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Istanbulgucu. Akdeniz U. made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Istanbulgucu turnovers and outrebounded them 39-23 including 17 on the offensive glass. Akdeniz U. shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Brene Moseley (170, college: Maryland, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 41 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 10 assists. Selin Oztekin (-90) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Akdeniz U.'s coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Yagmur Bul (164-96) produced 17 points and 8 assists and American center Molly Schlemer (196-92, college: Cal Poly - SLO) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Istanbulgucu players scored in double figures. Akdeniz U. have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Bursa BSB. Istanbulgucu at the other side dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Aci Koleji. Akdeniz U. is looking forward to face Aci Koleji (#8) in the next round. Istanbulgucu's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Istanbul U.G.
