Regular Season Round 22: Kyiv Basket 2 - Ternopil-TNEU 78-80

Eighth-ranked Kyiv Basket 2 (6-14) made lots of trouble for first ranked Ternopil-TNEU (16-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Ternopil managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Kyiv Basket 2 was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Kyiv Basket 2 49-26 including a 17-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Center Yevgen Vornik (208-86) fired 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Oleg Rudakov (194-94, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Ternopil-TNEU's coach Dmitry Zabirchenko used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Andriy Poshablia (194-1) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Yevgen Bolotsenko (195-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Ternopil-TNEU and five Kyiv Basket 2 players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Ternopil-TNEU maintains first position with 16-4 record. Kyiv Basket 2 at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh place with 14 games lost. Ternopil-TNEU will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Kyiv Basket 2 will play again at home against the league's leader Ternopil-TNEU (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
