Regular Season Round 15: Rilski - Academic Sofia 81-85

The game between third ranked Rilski (8-5) and eighth ranked Academic Sofia (4-10) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Rilski was defeated by Academic Sofia in a tough game in Samokov 81-85. Strangely Rilski outrebounded Academic Sofia 39-26 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for international center Tsvetomir Chernokozhev (208-0) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points. Guard Kostadin Lazarov (193-0) helped adding 10 points. Four Academic Sofia players scored in double figures. Academic Sofia's coach Georgi Davidov used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (197-85) with 19 points and 5 assists and Senegalese-American power forward Malik Dime (206-92, college: Washington) scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. Academic Sofia moved-up to seventh place. Rilski lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Academic Sofia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rilski will play at home against the league's leader Levski Lukoil (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
