Regular Season Round 17: Dorsten - Leverkusen FB 79-66

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Dorsten (11-5) beat at home 10th ranked Leverkusen FB (4-11) 79-66 on Saturday. Dorsten looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Leverkusen FB's players. American guard Mike Nwabuzor (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and naturalized Albanian point guard Nderim Pelaj (182-88) chipped in 22 points. Nwabuzor is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Dorsten's coach Franjo Lukenda allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Christian Froehlingsdorf (210-93) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and swingman Sven Hartmann (189-88) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Dorsten moved-up to fourth place in West, which they share with Hagen BG and Herford. Loser Leverkusen FB keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Dorsten will face higher ranked Hertener Loewen (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leverkusen FB will play against Herford (#6) and hope to win that game.
