A very interesting game took place in Treutchlingen. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Treuchtlingen (8-7) to sixth ranked Schwabing (8-6) 91-90 in the game for the fourth place. Schwabing dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Treuchtlingen's 44. They outrebounded Treuchtlingen 42-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Treuchtlingen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized British point guard Justin Hedley (191-96) saved the victory by scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St.) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Schwabing players scored in double figures. Swingman Peter Zeis (196-89) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and forward Stefan Schmoll (196-89) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Treuchtlingen. Schwabing moved-up to fourth place in South-East. Treuchtlingen at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Schwabing's next round opponent will be Vilsbiburg (#9) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Treuchtlingen will play against the league's second-placed Oberhaching (#2) in Deisenhofen and hope to win that game.
