Regular Season Round 14: Mazeikiu SM - Sostines 92-80

There was no surprise in Mazeikiai where 12th ranked Sostines (1-12) was defeated by fifth ranked Mazeikiu SM (9-4) 92-80. The game was mostly controlled by Mazeikiu SM. Sostines was better in second period 25-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mazeikiu SM players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Edgaras Preibys (203-2) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Kasparas Bruzas (187-2) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Julius Vaitkus (-2) replied with 25 points and 7 rebounds and center Matas Macijauskas (204-2) added 16 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) in the effort for Sostines. Five Mazeikiu SM and four Sostines players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mazeikiu SM have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 9-4 record. Sostines lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost. Mazeikiu SM will play against Silutes SM (#9) at home in the next round. Sostines will play against Tornado KM and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
