Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas: Perkunas (#2) and Zalgiris U18 (#10). Perkunas (11-2) smashed visiting Zalgiris U18 (2-11) by 43 points 97-54. The game without a history. Perkunas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris U18's 32. Perkunas forced 23 Zalgiris U18 turnovers and outrebounded them 54-42 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Forward Gabrielius Celka (198-1) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Martynas Ziukas (198-1) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Perkunas players scored in double figures. Perkunas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Rokas Miskinis (196-1) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 16 rebounds and forward Lukas Stanevicius (191-1) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Zalgiris U18. Perkunas have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-2 record behind leader Vilniaus Silputa. Zalgiris U18 lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Tornado KM. Perkunas will play against Jonavos (#8) in Jonava in the next round where they are favorite. Zalgiris U18 will play at home against V.Knasiaus KM and hopes to get back on the winning track.
