Second Stage Round 2: Marmatiei - Focsani 82-52

Date: January 25, 2019
Rather expected game when Focsani (12-8) was rolled over on the road by Marmatiei (14-6) 82-52 on Friday. The game without a history. Marmatiei led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Marmatiei made 8 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Allan Thomas (193-90, college: Georgetown, KY) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Forward Greg Edwards (196-90, college: Globe Tech JC) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four Marmatiei players scored in double figures. Point guard Cameron Cornelius (183-92, college: Missouri So.) produced 16 points and forward Kyle Kilgore (201, college: Dakota St.) added 7 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Marmatiei will face Miercurea Ciuc (#6) on the road in the next round. Focsani will play against Rapid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
