There was no surprise when 12th ranked HAKRO Merlins II (5-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Giessen Pointers (9-8) 82-66 on Saturday. Giessen Pointers forced 21 HAKRO Merlins II turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by HAKRO Merlins II's players. The best player for the winners was American swingman Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem Intern.) who scored 26 points. Dominik Turudic (202-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Four Giessen Pointers players scored in double figures. Giessen Pointers' coach Daniel Doerr used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was British forward Joshua Guddemi (201-94, college: New Haven) who recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Giessen Pointers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in South-West. HAKRO Merlins II lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Giessen Pointers will face Kronberg (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. HAKRO Merlins II will play against Kaiserslautern and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
