There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Ansbach (8-8) smashed at home higher ranked Bamberg (8-8) 89-63 on Saturday. They outrebounded Bamberg 33-22 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Forward David Kurpiela (195-92) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Five Ansbach players scored in double figures. Ansbach's coach Martin Ides felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Christoph Dippold (191-94) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and American power forward Robert Ferguson (203-85, college: St.Joseph's) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Ansbach moved-up to sixth place in South-East, which they share with Bamberg and Treuchtlingen. Ansbach will face higher ranked Schwabing (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
