Regular Season Round 17: Svendborg - Naestved 88-80

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Svendborg. Third ranked Svendborg faced 4th placed Naestved. Host Svendborg (12-5) defeated guests from Naestved (11-8) 88-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Naestved. Naestved was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Svendborg forced 21 Naestved turnovers. Strangely Naestved outrebounded Svendborg 41-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Svendborg especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Naestved helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American point guard Derrick Wilson (185-92, college: Marquette) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 10 steals. The former international guard Mikkel Plannthin (195-88, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 25 points. Israeli center Anton Shoutvin (206-89) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Jordan Session (203-96, college: Georgia St.) added 14 points and 11 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively for the guests. Four Svendborg and five Naestved players scored in double figures. Svendborg have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 12-5 record behind leader Wolfpack/BMS. Naestved at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Svendborg will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Naestved will play at home against the league's second-placed Horsens IC (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
