Regular Season Round 20: Nuernberg - Rostock 73-76
Date: January 26, 2019
Eleventh-ranked Nuernberg (8-10) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Rostock (13-7) on Saturday. The visitors from Rostock managed to secure only three-point victory 76-73. However their fans expected much easier game. Strangely Nuernberg outrebounded Rostock 39-27 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Terrell Harris (191-93, college: Georgia Coll., agency: Players Group) who scored that evening 12 points and Canadian forward Yannick Anzuluni (205-87, college: Houghton) supported him with 16 points. Even a double-double of 26 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) by American guard Ishmail Wainright (196-94, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Nuernberg. Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97, agency: Octagon Europe) added 8 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Rostock have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted Rostock maintains third position with 13-7 record having just two points less than leader Chemnitz, which they share with Heidelberg. Nuernberg lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with ten games lost. Rostock will meet at home league's second-placed Hamburg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nuernberg will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#4) and hope to secure a win.
