Regular Season Round 16: Artsakh - FIMA Basketball 115-93

There was a small surprise when fifth ranked Artsakh (7-9) crushed at home their close opponent FIMA Basketball (6-11) 115-93. The game was mostly controlled by Artsakh. FIMA Basketball was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded FIMA Basketball 50-33 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Artsakh shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Bagrat Mikaelyan (190) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and international Albert Tatevosyan (195-93) who added 30 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. Five Artsakh players scored in double figures. Artsakh's coach Gevorg Shakhnazaryan felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Branden Padgett (182-93, college: Lambton, agency: AgainHello) responded with 32 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Russian Nikita Osit (202-98) scored 35 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. FIMA Basketball at the other side keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. Artsakh will play against bottom-ranked Erebuni (#6) in Yerevan in the next round. FIMA Basketball will play at home against the league's leader Aragatz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
