Second Stage Round 3: UE Varna - Akademik Sofia 83-93

Akademik Sofia (2-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat UE Varna (0-2) 93-83. Akademik Sofia made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a quality performance for guard Kostadin Lazarov (193-0) who led the winners and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Lachezar Dimitrov (187-99) accounted for 18 points and 7 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. Power forward Nikolay Georgiev (205-95) came up with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Martin Kotsev (195-98, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals respectively for UE Varna in the defeat. Five Akademik Sofia and four UE Varna players scored in double figures. Akademik Sofia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Sofia Athletic Sofia.
