Regular Season Round 19: Tofas - TED Ankara 69-76

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Tofas (9-8) against fourth ranked TED Ankara (11-7) on Sunday night. Host Tofas was defeated by TED Ankara in a tough game at home 69-76. TED Ankara shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Tofas only scored six points from the stripe. TED Ankara forced 19 Tofas turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 38 on the defensive glass. Tofas was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Abdullah Guclu (195-0) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Alperen Ercan (191-1) helped adding 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Four TED Ankara players scored in double figures. At the losing side Emirhan Merdin (195-1) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and forward Berkan Aksu (203-1) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. TED Ankara maintains fourth place with 11-7 record. Tofas at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. TED Ankara will play against league's leader Fenerbahce in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tofas will play at home against Istanbul BBSK and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
