Regular Season Round 20: Baunach - Trier 112-115

Fifteenth-ranked Baunach (5-15) used its home court advantage to challenge seventh ranked Gladiators (11-9). The visitors from Trier managed to secure only three-point victory 115-112. However their fans expected much easier game. Gladiators made 31-of-39 charity shots (79.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. 33 personal fouls committed by Baunach helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-Canadian forward Jermaine Bucknor (201-83, college: Richmond) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 18 rebounds and 9 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Point guard Simon Schmitz (188-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points, 6 rebounds and 12 assists. Estonian point guard Kristian Kullamaee (190-99, agency: Dynamics Global Management) produced 34 points (!!!) and Estonian Henri Drell (205-0) added 19 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Five Gladiators and four Baunach players scored in double figures. Baunach's coach Felix Czerny tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gladiators moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ehingen and Karlsruhe PS. Baunach at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Gladiators' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked White Wings (#16) in Hanau which should be an easy win for them. Baunach will play on the road against Kirchheim Knights and hope to win that game.
