Regular Season Round 17: Cherno More - Beroe 98-97

The most exciting game of round 17 in the NBL took place in Varna. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Beroe (11-4) to ninth ranked Cherno More (2-13) 98-97 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Strangely Beroe outrebounded Cherno More 42-30 including 20 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Beroe's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Beroe helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was forward Georgi Boyanov (201-93, college: S.Alabama) who had a double-double by scoring 39 points (!!!), 17 rebounds and 5 assists. Swingman Mihail Moldov (193-1) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. International forward Aleksandar Yanev-Georgiev (203-90, agency: 011 Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds and the former international power forward Stanislav Vaklinov (207-89, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Cherno More and five Beroe players scored in double figures. Cherno More maintains ninth place with 2-13 record. Beroe at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Cherno More are looking forward to face higher ranked Academik Plovdiv (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beroe will play against Balkan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
