An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kyiv. Second ranked Kyiv Basket faced 3rd placed Chaika. Host Kyiv Basket (15-2) smashed guests from Berdiansk (10-7) 113-69. The game without a history. Kyiv Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot 61.3 percent from the field and made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. Kyiv Basket forced 21 Chaika turnovers and had a 26-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. Kyiv Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 37 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Chaika's players. The former international center Oleksandra Chek (191-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 6 assists. Center Veronika Liubinets (188-99) contributed with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Kyiv Basket players scored in double figures. The former international forward Olexandra Radulovich-Kurasova (186-86) answered with 29 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Iryna Tsekova (178-78) added 13 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Chaika. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the tenth consecutive win for Kyiv Basket. Defending champion maintains second place with 15-2 record behind leader Dynamo-NPU. Chaika at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Kyiv Basket will play against Frankivsk (#4) in Ivano-Frankivsk in the next round. Chaika will play on the road against Interkhim in Odessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
