There was no surprise when 15th ranked Istanbul BBSK (2-13) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Tofas (11-5) 87-82. Tofas had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Tofas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American guard Sammy Mejia (199-83, college: DePaul) nailed 18 points and 7 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import guard Diante Garrett (193-88, college: Iowa St.) accounted for 15 points and 10 assists. American guard Tu Holloway (183-89, college: Xavier) came up with 23 points and 5 steals and Canadian Brady Heslip (188-90, college: Baylor) added 20 points respectively for Istanbul BBSK in the defeat. Five Tofas and four Istanbul BBSK players scored in double figures. Tofas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place. Istanbul BBSK lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Tofas' next round opponent will be Afyon Bld (#14) in Afyonkarahisar which should be an easy win for them. Istanbul BBSK will play on the road against Pinar Karsiyaka and hope to win that game.
