No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Giessen 46ers II (11-8) beat on the road 12th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (4-15) 74-70 on Saturday. Strangely Dragons Rhoendorf outrebounded Giessen 46ers II 38-25 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Alen Pjanic (199-97) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 4 steals. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Julian Jasinski (201-96) added 18 points respectively for Dragons Rhoendorf in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Giessen 46ers II have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Fraport SKY II. Dragons Rhoendorf lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eleventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Koeln Rh.Stars. Giessen 46ers II will meet at home Coburg (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Elchingen and hope to secure a win.
