There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Socar Petkim (9-8) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Manisa (9-8) 97-84 on Saturday. Manisa made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Manisa had a 31-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Derrick Marks (190-93, college: Boise St.) who scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import center Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Four Manisa players scored in double figures. American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-91, college: SMU) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: Point Loma) added 15 points and 9 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Manisa moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sigortam.net ITU and Petkim. Manisa will meet higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Socar Petkim will play against the league's leader Bursaspor and will have a slim chance for a victory.
