Regular Season Round 19: Ansbach - Schwabing 79-100

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Schwabing (10-6) rolled over on the road 6th ranked Ansbach (8-9) 100-79 on Saturday. Schwabing made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for Isaiah Ihnen (205-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St.) contributed with 22 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Five Schwabing players scored in double figures. American forward Steven Ward (200-87, college: Three Rivers CC) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward David Kurpiela (195-92) added 18 points in the effort for Ansbach. Ansbach's coach Martin Ides gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Schwabing. They maintain fourth place in South-East with 10-6 record. Loser Ansbach dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. Schwabing will face Rosenheim (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ansbach will play against the league's leader Oberhaching (#1) in Deisenhofen and hope to win that game.
