Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Westerstede (7-12) was outscored on the road by first ranked Wolmirstedt (17-2) 98-65 on Saturday. Wolmirstedt outrebounded Westerstede 40-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Wolmirstedt especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Philipp Lieser (194-89, college: Cent.Washington) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American guard Garrett Jefferson (190-91, college: Cal.Baptist) contributed with 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Wolmirstedt players scored in double figures. Wolmirstedt's coach Ralf Rehberger felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Croatian-Bosnian power forward Sandro Antunovic (207-98) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and Marcello Schroeder (195-87) added 16 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Westerstede. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Wolmirstedt. Newly promoted Wolmirstedt maintains first place in North with 17-2 record. Westerstede lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 12 games lost. Wolmirstedt will face Goetting.ASC (#3) in Goettingen in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Westerstede will play on the road against Cuxhaven (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
