Second Stage Round 4: Ereliai Mazeikiai - Zalgiris II 75-87

No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Zalgiris II (16-15) defeated on the road 14th ranked Ereliai Mazeikiai (10-21) 87-75. Zalgiris II dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ereliai Mazeikiai's 32. It was a very good performance for guard Modestas Kancleris (203-1) who helped to win the game recording 23 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Point guard Marius Valinskas (187-99) contributed with 14 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Zalgiris II players scored in double figures. Guard Haroldas Saprykinas (187-95, college: Cal-Irvine) replied with 22 points and American guard Lavell Boyd (183-94, college: UMKC) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ereliai Mazeikiai. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Zalgiris II have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Silute. Ereliai Mazeikiai at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 21 games lost. They share it with Jonava. Zalgiris II will play against Taurages (#11) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Ereliai Mazeikiai will play against KTU in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
