Important game to mention about took place in Ibbenbueren. Eighth ranked Ibbenbueren (9-9) saved a 2-point victory at home edging leader Duesseldorf (16-1) 92-90 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the 16-game winning streak of Duesseldorf. Duesseldorf was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Denzel Johnson (190, college: Santa Clara) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 11 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Deshaun Cooper (173-91, college: NW Missouri St.) responded with 24 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and Lithuanian forward Dainius Zvinklys (203-90) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Ibbenbueren. They moved-up to seventh place in West, which they share with Recklinghausen. Duesseldorf at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Ibbenbueren will play against Deutzer (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Duesseldorf will play against Recklinghausen (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
