Regular Season Round 22: Timberwolves - Arkadia 96-80

An interesting game was played in Vienna where host Timberwolves (#8) won against 5th ranked Arkadia Lions with 16-point difference 96-80 on Sunday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Timberwolves. Arkadia Lions managed to win third quarter 25-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Arkadia Lions 42-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Timberwolves looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American-Italian swingman Joe Scott (192-88, college: St.Thomas) scored 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Serbian center Marko Kolaric (213-84, college: Chaminade) chipped in 17 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Timberwolves' coach Hubert Schmidt used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) responded with 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international guard Benedikt Guettl (190-94) scored 15 points and 5 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Four Arkadia Lions players scored in double figures. Timberwolves (9-13) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Wels. Loser Arkadia Lions keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Vienna. Timberwolves will meet higher ranked Dukes (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Arkadia Lions will play against the league's leader Gmunden Swans having rather not much hope for a victory.
