Regular Season Round 27: Kremen - Niko-Basket 102-97

There was an upset in Kremenchuk where 4th placed Niko-Basket (12-8) was defeated by ninth ranked Kremen (4-20) 102-97 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 34-25 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kremen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Niko-Basket was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Alexey Chigrinov (189-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who led his team to a victory scoring 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Aleksandr Ryhljuk (208-84) helped adding 30 points and 14 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) with 20 points and 8 rebounds and forward Sergiy Yurchenko (202-87) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Niko-Basket's coach Valentin Berestnev rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kremen maintains ninth place with 4-20 record. Loser Niko-Basket keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. Kremen will face higher ranked Zolotoi Vek (#7) in Kirovograd in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Niko-Basket will play at home against SumDU and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
