Everything went according to plan when third ranked SSV Lok Bernau (12-7) defeated at home 8th ranked Itzehoe (9-10) 86-71 on Sunday. SSV Lok Bernau forced 20 Itzehoe turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Bennet Hundt (178-98) who led the winners and scored 25 points. American power forward Quadir Welton (203-95, college: St.Peter's) accounted for 10 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. American forward Kevin Mickle (201-92, college: Ohio) came up with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Bulgarian guard Milen Zahariev (190-92) added 11 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Itzehoe in the defeat. Four Itzehoe players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. SSV Lok Bernau have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain third place in North with 12-7 record having six points less than leader Bayer Giants. Loser Itzehoe keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. They share it with Schwelm. SSV Lok Bernau will meet Iserlohn (#6) on the road in the next round. Itzehoe will play against ETB Wohnbau and hope to secure a win.
