There was a surprise result when fourteenth ranked Goldbach (4-13) defeated at home higher ranked Herzogenaurach (10-8) 79-71 on Saturday. They outrebounded Herzogenaurach 28-12. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jimmy Kodet (201-95, college: Valdosta St.) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian Tadas Jagela (190-93) who added 24 points during the contest. American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) responded with 17 points and 4 assists and point guard Robert Merz (193-0) scored 16 points. Four Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Goldbach maintains fourteenth position in South-East with 4-13 record. Loser Herzogenaurach keeps the fifth place with eight games lost. Goldbach will face higher ranked Treuchtlingen (#6) in Treutchlingen in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Herzogenaurach will play at home against Jena II and hope to win that game.
