Regular Season Round 22: Nuernberg - Art.Dragons 79-66

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Artland Dragons (10-12) were defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Nuernberg (10-10) 79-66 on Saturday. Nuernberg forced 19 Artland Dragons turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Ishmail Wainright (196-94, college: Baylor) scored 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Hungarian point guard Marcell Pongo (194-97, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 13 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side American guard Pierre Bland (188-92, college: PFW) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Demetris Morant (206-92, college: FGCU) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Nuernberg moved-up to ninth place. Newly promoted Artland Dragons dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Kirchheim. Nuernberg will meet higher ranked Gladiators (#8) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Artland Dragons will play against Schalke and hope to secure a win.
