Regular Season Round 20: Giessen 46ers II - Coburg 91-68

Very expected game when 9th ranked Coburg (9-11) was crushed on the road by third ranked Giessen 46ers II (12-8) 91-68 on Sunday. Giessen 46ers II made 17-of-17 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Giessen 46ers II outrebounded Coburg 36-22 including a 28-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Leon Okpara (195-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) who added 23 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. French guard Kevin Franceschi (191-93, college: Oklah.Baptist) responded with 18 points and American point guard Chase Adams (177-88, college: Pittsburgh) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Giessen 46ers II have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in South, which they share with Schwenningen. Coburg lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Giessen 46ers II will face league's second-placed BV Villingen-Schwenningen at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Coburg will play against the league's leader Bayer Giants (#1) and hope to win that game.
