There was no surprise in Istanbul where 5th ranked Turk Telekom (8-11) was crushed by third ranked Darussafaka (16-4) 89-67 on Wednesday. Darussafaka dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Turk Telekom's 36. Darussafaka forced 23 Turk Telekom turnovers and outrebounded them 38-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Mert Akay (198-0) who scored 18 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Mahmut Celik (206-1) chipped in 24 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Four Darussafaka players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Zahid Isaoglu (-0) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and Yigit Ozkan (-1) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Darussafaka maintains third place with 16-4 record behind leader Banvit. Turk Telekom lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Anadolu Efes.
