Regular Season Round 20: Cherkasy - Khimik 82-86

Superleague top team - Khimik (18-6) added another victory to their record on Thursday. This time they beat eighth ranked Cherkasy (6-13) 86-82. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Cherkasy won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of U.S. Virgin Islands guard Deon Edwin (190-92, college: Kent St., agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists and international Sergiy Pavlov (205-97) who added 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. American guard Brandon Young (193-91, college: DePaul) responded with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Chris Cokley (203-96, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 18-6 record. Cherkasy lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the seventh place with 13 games lost. Khimik will face bottom-ranked Politekhnik (#8) in Kharkiv in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cherkasy will play on the road against Zaporizhye in Zaporozhye and hope to win that game.
