Second Stage Round 8: Silute - Suduva-Mantinga 81-69

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Suduva-Mantinga (27-9) against sixth ranked Silute (18-16) on Saturday night. Visiting Suduva-Mantinga was defeated by Silute in Silute 81-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. Silute had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by American guard Byron Sanford (183-93, college: Trevecca Naz.) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Andrius Gaidys (180-94) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Even 12 points and 7 rebounds by guard Zygimantas Simonis (192-95) did not help to save the game for Suduva-Mantinga. Gvidas Galinauskas (203-97) added 9 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Silute maintains sixth position with 18-16 record. Loser Suduva-Mantinga keeps the second place with nine games lost. Silute will meet higher ranked Telsiai (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Suduva-Mantinga will play against Delikatesas in Joniskis and hope to secure a win.
