Very expected game when 9th ranked Izmit (8-11) was rolled over at home by fifth ranked Mersin BSB (12-7) 94-65. Mersin BSB dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Izmit's 32. Mersin BSB forced 22 Izmit turnovers and outrebounded them 41-22 including a 35-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Bosnian-Serbian swingman Sasa Cadjo (178-89) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Mersin BSB players scored in double figures. Coach Olcay Orak's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international point guard Gizem Yavuz (170-88) came up with 22 points and 5 assists and Russian forward Marina Bas (194-85) added 23 points respectively for Izmit in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mersin BSB. They maintain fifth place with 12-7 record. Newly promoted Izmit keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Mersin BSB's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Fenerbahce in Istanbul and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Izmit will play on the road against Botas (#4) in Adana and hope to win that game.
