Regular Season Round 21: Giessen - Koblenz 60-85

Date: February 16, 2019
Rather predictable result when second ranked Koblenz (17-2) outscored on the road 6th ranked Giessen Pointers (9-10) 85-60 on Saturday. They outrebounded Giessen Pointers 49-29 including a 38-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Croatian-Bosnian power forward Valentin Jurkovic (209-94, agency: PEPI SPORT) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Koblenz players scored in double figures. Koblenz's coach Josip Bosnjak felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Christopher Miller (192-93, college: Salem Intern.) who recorded 22 points and Lithuanian Martynas Airosius (192-93) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Koblenz maintains second place in South-West with 17-2 record behind leader Duesseldorf. Newly promoted Giessen Pointers dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. Koblenz will face Kaiserslautern (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Giessen Pointers will play against Mannheim and hope to win that game.
