Second Stage Round 8: Telsiai - Neptunas-Akv. 77-78

The most exciting game of round 8 in the NKL took place in Telsiu. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 4th ranked Telsiai (19-16) to seventh ranked Neptunas-Akv. (18-18) 78-77 on Sunday evening. Neptunas-Akv. made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game, while Telsiai only scored seven points from the stripe. 27 personal fouls committed by Telsiai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Tadas Pazera (194-98) saved the victory by scoring 19 points and 5 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Arunas Mikalauskas (202-97, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Neptunas-Akv. players scored in double figures. Point guard Ignas Razutis (185-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals and forward Ovidijus Kaminskis (195-91) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Telsiai. Telsiai's coach Povilas Sakinis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Neptunas-Akv. maintains seventh position with 18-18 record. Telsiai at the other side keeps the fourth place with 16 games lost. They share the position with Perlas. Neptunas-Akv. are looking forward to face league's leader Vytis in Sakiai in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Telsiai will play at home against Silute and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
