Regular Season Round 31: Niko-Basket - Kharkivski Sokoly 87-76

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mykolaiv. Third ranked Niko-Basket faced 4th placed Kharkivski Sokoly. Host Niko-Basket (16-8) defeated guests from Kharkiv (14-11) 87-76. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Niko-Basket outrebounded Kharkivski Sokoly 48-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Stanislav Serpilin (193-93) fired 34 points (!!!) for the winners. Forward Vadim Zaplotinskiy (200-97) chipped in 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Niko-Basket's coach Valentin Berestnev used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Yaroslav Udodenko (187-87) produced 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Dmitro Zolotarov (193-92) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Niko-Basket have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-8 record having seventeen points less than leader Rivne. Kharkivski Sokoly lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with 11 games lost. Niko-Basket are looking forward to face Dnipro-2 (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kharkivski Sokoly will play against Zolotoi Vek (#7) in Kirovograd and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
