Regular Season Round 17: Wuerzburg - Schwabach 81-64

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Schwabach's (5-9) road loss to fifth ranked Ladybaskets Wuerzburg (7-7) 64-81 on Sunday. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg outrebounded Schwabach 46-34 including 31 on the defensive glass. Canadian-Swiss guard Brianna Ghali (180, college: Calgary) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Jessika-Stefanie Schiffer (175-0) contributed with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg's coach Janet Fowler-Michel used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Brooke LeMar (168-91, college: N.Dakota St.) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 5 steals and the other American import guard Shantrell Moss (180-85, college: Clark Atlanta) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Schwabach. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg maintains fifth place in South with 7-7 record. Newly promoted Schwabach keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Ladybaskets Wuerzburg will face higher ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (#4) in Dudenhofen in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Schwabach will play at home against Weiterstadt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
