Regular Season Round 18: Tornado KM - Zalgiris U18 98-66

Bottom-ranked Tornado KM managed to get a third victory, breaking the twelve-game losing streak on Tuesday night. This time they outleveled eleventh-ranked Zalgiris U18 in Kaunas 98-66. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 32-point difference suggests that Tornado KM is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. Tornado KM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Zalgiris U18's 26. Tornado KM forced 20 Zalgiris U18 turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Guard Matas Makauskas (186-2) scored 45 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Domantas Butkys chipped in 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Tadas Urbonas (193-1) with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Vincentas Salcius (184-1) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Zalgiris U18 players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tornado KM (3-14) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Sostines. Zalgiris U18 lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Tornado KM is looking forward to face higher ranked Jonavos (#8) in Jonava in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zalgiris U18 will play at home against Panevezio (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
