Second Stage Round 9: Oradea - Agronomia 43-69

The game between second ranked Oradea (12-6) and fifth ranked Agronomia (4-16) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Oradea was crushed by Agronomia in Oradea 43-69. The game was mostly controlled by Agronomia. Oradea managed to win second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Oradea to just 5 points in third quarter. Agronomia held Oradea to an opponent 23.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 41.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Agronomia forced 20 Oradea turnovers. It was a good game for guard Sonia Vilcinschi (175-96) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Alexandra Chitanu (174-95) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Ruxandra Chis (176-93) answered with 14 points and 9 rebounds and center Nicolett Orban (190-0) added 9 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Oradea. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Agronomia maintains fifth place with 4-16 record. Oradea at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with six games lost. Agronomia are looking forward to face higher ranked Rapid Bucuresti (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oradea will play against Targu Secuiesc and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
