The most exciting game of round 5 in the Proliga took place in Aveiro. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Beira Mar (5-14) to third ranked Braga (8-10) 59-56 on Friday evening. Braga forced 21 Beira Mar turnovers. The best player for the winners was Josimar Cassama (196-99) who scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Edivino Miranda (-93) chipped in 8 points and 4 assists. Point guard Goncalo Catarino (173-94) produced 17 points and 5 rebounds and Cape Verdean forward Ailton Lopes-Marques (200-95) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Braga moved-up to second place. Beira Mar lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Vasco. Braga are looking forward to face Benfica B (#3) in Lisbona in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Beira Mar will play at home against Vasco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
