Regular Season Round 21: Triglav - Celje 54-58

Date: February 23, 2019
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kranj. Leader Celje faced second-best Triglav. Guests from Celje (20-0) defeated host Triglav (18-3) 58-54. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Triglav. Triglav trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 22-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 54-58 at the end of the game. American center Chatrice White (190-96, college: Florida St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and international Larisa Ocvirk (187-97) chipped in 5 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Katarina Ristic (170-84, agency: Two Points) with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Ajda Burgar (176-1) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Triglav's coach Ernest Novak rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the sixteenth consecutive win for Celje. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-0 record. Loser Triglav keeps the second position with three games lost. Celje will meet at home Grosbasket (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Triglav will play against Jezica (#4) in Ljubljana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
