Regular Season Round 20: Petkim - Karesi Spor 85-86

The most exciting game of round 20 in the TBL took place in Petkim. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked Socar Petkim (11-9) to third ranked Karesi Spor (14-6) 86-85 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Socar Petkim. Karesi Spor looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Umit Sonkol (206-82) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall) who added 15 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-91, college: SMU) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: Point Loma) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Karesi Spor maintains third position with 14-6 record having just three points less than leader Bursaspor. Socar Petkim at the other side dropped to the sixth place with nine games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Karesi Spor are looking forward to face Akhisar Bld (#6) at home in the next round. Socar Petkim will play against Sigortam.net ITU in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
