Regular Season Round 18: GDESSA - AD Vagos 59-67

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Barreiro where one of their biggest challengers GDESSA (11-5) was defeated by fifth ranked AD Vagos (9-8) 67-59. They made 19-of-20 charity shots (95.0 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Brazilian guard Taina Paixao (176-91) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 8 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). International forward Joana Canastra (174-94) contributed with 20 points for the winners. International forward Maianca Umabano (180-97) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Catarina Neves (173-93) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for GDESSA. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AD Vagos maintains fifth position with 9-8 record. GDESSA at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. AD Vagos' next round opponent will be Benfica (#6) in Lisbona. GDESSA will play at home against Ovarense and hope to win that game.
